Course Description

The purpose of the Cosmetology Instructor Course is to train licensed cosmetologists how to teach the theory and practice of cosmetology and to prepare them for employment. The course emphasizes the development of desirable work habits and attitudes and how to communicate them to cosmetology students. Student instructors are directed toward handling their students and clinic clients with the highest standards of personal and business ethics. This course requires 600 hours of class time.

Course Goals

1. Students will learn to:
   • Teach the theory and practice of cosmetology.
   • Effectively use teaching aids in the classroom, including texts, workbooks, audio-visual materials, ect.
   • Develop specific teaching techniques to be used in the cosmetology classroom.
2. Prepare student to pass the state board examination.
3. Help students develop the personal qualities necessary to be a successful teacher.
